I recently decided I needed to go to a Chiropractor because I have some tightness in my back and mild, yet constant back pain. So I went to my closest Chiropractor and had a new patient exam done. She told me that she practices "Network Spinal Analysis". Of course I didn't know what that meant. I went to my first session. It was 15 mins long. She touched my back a total of 5 times (and when I say touched, she tapped my back) and told me to breathe into where she had tapped. Between the taps, she attends to her other patients, gets coffee, chats with coworkers.... After the session, she says I seem looser. I'm not really sure... maybe because I arrived at my session after walking 20 mins hunched over in -40C snowy weather and spent 15 mins warming up and breathing that actually made my back looser. I had back pain going into the session, and came out with the same back pain. Possibly unrelated, but that night I had severe back pain. (of course since I don't believe that she actually did anything, so I don't believe that she can make my back worse) Essentially, this treatment isn't even giving me the placebo effect, because it seems so hand-wavy to me. It seems like something I could do at home for free. Is this a scam??? She has asked me to lock in appointments with her 3 times a week for 8 weeks. I've been reading online, and as someone with higher level education, the stuff online is bogus. It talks too much about how it will make your ENTIRE life better and not enough about when I need to go to someone three times a week for 5 back taps. "It's to bring your body to be aware of stress areas"...blah blah blah. Apparently it's supposed to help with my emotional stress??? (I'm 23, what emotional stress do I have???) I don't know if I should do this. Should I just concede that she is a professional and that she MUST know what's she's doing? Should I find a more traditional chiropractor? Maybe I should go to someone more traditional, who can give me some instant back pain relief, then go to someone who thinks they can help with me emotional stress. (Anyone actually get this treatment with great results... if so, in how long? How long were your appointments? How many times a week? How does the tapping even help (vs, doing breathing exercises at home)? Thanks!

Okay, so I have been having really bad upper back pain, usually its either around one scapula or the other. Sometimes its a cramping, sometimes a pinching, sometimes just a soreness, sometimes a stabbing, and more recently a burning pain, but any kind of pain I have is excruciating. I have been to a couple different doctors, see my chiropractor on a weekly basis, I've had x-rays, and none of them can figure out what is wrong with me. Has any one ever had this kind of inconsistent, excruciating type of pain, and what caused it for you? On another note, I have always been prescribed Vicodin by doctors, and it doesn't matter if i eat or drink milk before taking them, they make me so sick that I usually throw up. They used to be fine, but I seem to have developed some sort of allergy because they also make me itchy and they do the opposite of making me sleepy. I also have a tolerance to them because of how long I've had to take them. Any suggestions on another type of medicine that might not have these side effects, and might help with the pain, and make it possible to go to sleep? Thank you in advance if you answer.

Hi there! I have seen a programme on inverted tables for back relief. It seems that 15 min are recommended vertically once you have got used to it and I have checked a website that it mentions that its counterproductive if you have retina problems, conjuntivitis or high blood pressure. I am 31 and I had eye surgery one year ago for short sightedness and stigmatism. After one year, they said my eyes are fine, eye pressure is fine and that the retina test just showed rugged vessels towards the back of the eye, which according to another oftalmologist (not this one) needs to be watched. Just wondering if a maximum of 4-5min a day before going to bed, and not 15 min twice a day as it´s recommended, would be good enough for my eyes and for relieving my cervical, dorsal and lumbar pain as a result of bad posture and tight quadriceps and hip muscles! Any advice would be kindly appreciated! Cheers!

The closest chiropractor that takes my insurance is over an hour away and I can't just jump in the car and go whenever. My husband has lower back pain that starts in his lower back where his pants sit and go into his buttocks and down his legs. He has been seeing a chiropractor for temporary relief. He has taken vicadin, tremodol, ibuprofren etc. Nothing seems to phase him. He is so stubborn and doesnt want to go to a doctor. Is there any types of vitamins or pills that anyone knows of that will help lessen the pain? He is only 28! I'm sure he needs back surgery but he doesnt want to go since his work doesnt pay disability. I'm working on that issue tho!!

im 19 and i have had chronic back pain for 3 years now and its getting worse all the time. im constantly weak and my hips and knees also hurt a lot especially when im walking around and going up stairs etc. i have to take tramadol, co codermol 30/500 and diclofenac sodium at the maximum dosage every day and they make me really sick i have been through both physio and hydrotherapy and its done nothing for me...even made it worse and when i went to see the rhumatologist she sent me back to physio. she said that she thinks that my spine at the bottom is more curved than it should be. She doesnt want me to have pain killing injections because they only offer short term relief my bloods were normal, as was my mri scan is there anything else i can try to help ease the pain?

I went over to my best friends house yesterday and was playing with his little sister. We got in the pool and I was carrying her around and my back didn't hurt quite yet. A few hours, a shopping trip, and being on my knees off an on for an hour later, my back is killing me. Mostly it's lower to middle of my back. My shoulder's also hurt a lot. It feels like someone is sitting on my shoulders. My back pain feels as if someone has repeatedly punched me. Then if it gets to bad, my neck started getting stiff and then I get a horrible headache. I try excedrin back & body and it used to work before but now it only works for 2-3 hours. I also try taking a hot bath but it's about 90 degrees here during the day so if I take a hot bath in the day time I'll get a headache from being too hot. I got those Dr. Shcoles back pain Relief shoe inserts in mys hoes but I'm not on my feet enough during the day for them to work. I also have a heating pad but yet again, it's too hot in the day to use it. The only other thing that works is my boyfriend rubbing my back but he's been going to bed a lot earlier now so he's too tired to rub it. Is that anything like tiger balm? Cause I have tiger balm. It doesn't work really well, except for my neck.

Help! I am in terrible pain right now at work. Out of nowhere, I have a very painful lower backache. It hurts to move, sit, stand, etc. I work retail it is slow, so I don't have to do much moving around and when I do bend down, I do so at the knees. Also, I am alone. Is there anything to do, like stretching, that will help? Also, what should I avoid to not exacerbate the problem? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance. I have no meds available...until I leave. I'm looking for something I can do NOW to get a little relief. Like, the best position to be in: sitting, stand, lying down (when I can, haha). Also, preventative care is not an issue. I do exercise regularly (I actually think that I may have done something at a dance class last night and maybe after sleeping on it pulled something...), my weight is fine, diet is superb, I drink at least 80 oz of water a day, not stressed, and I get 7-8 hours of sleep a night! :) So, very strange that this is coming out of nowhere.

Push ups: 0 Sit and reach: 22 Shuttle run: 12.9 seconds Whenever I walk up a flight of stairs, I start breathing heavily. But I'm not obese or anything(I don't think...am I?). Is this completely unfit, or am I normal? By the way, I can run for about 1.5 minutes on flat ground without stopping. I don't have any health problems like asthma. I may have a pinched nerve in my lower back. In any case, it's a dull, intermittent pain that is more nagging and chronic than severe and acute. But I cannot get relief. Hi! I'm in my 9th week of pregnancy and I have had wicked back pain since I found out I was pregnant at 3w5d. i'm 17 years old and have been suffereing from severe lower back pain for over a year. my doctor says its just a herniated/inflammed SI joint, but the pain is ridiculous! xray came back normal, MRI showed 3 slightly bulging disks (not the cause of my pain because those disks dont touch any nerves) i'm on 3 different meds, i've tried physical therapy, a chiropractor, prednisone steroid pack, cold laser treatments, EVERYTHING! my last option is a cortisone injection into my SI joint, should i even bother? anyone know from experience how well they work? do i have any other options?

Okay, so ii was wondering if anyone could possibly tell me if they know what my problem can be (I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, but ii am really getting tired of waiting). So, for the last [about] 5-6 months, I've had a pain in my back (mostly in the lower, middle area. I've tried taking back pain relief pills, but it does absolutely nothing for the pain. ii also tried the hot and cold cream stuff, and again that did nothing, except make my back hot and sting. If anyone could please tell me what they think it might be, it would be greatly appreciated (you have no idea)...ii just want to know, so ii can find something to do for it.
